Collaborative media technology leader EditShare has recently announced that it is going to merge with Shift Media. Shift Media is a leading cloud-native video solution provider.

Who is EditShare?

EditShare builds network shared storage and media management solutions for the media and entertainment industry. The company’s hardware and software solutions help you store, manage and edit your media collaboratively on your premises, in the cloud, or both. The EditShare EFS scalable secure media storage system is designed for creative teams. The Flow media management systems can also intelligently scan and index all your files. This means that team members can quickly and easily find what they need. In addition, EditShare’s solutions integrate with the major non-linear editing programs and even offer edit in the Cloud options.

Who is Shift Media?

Shift Media provides cloud-based solutions for creators to manage, present, and collaborate on their projects. With the company’s MediaSilo platform, you can also manage, review, and share work-in-progress video content. Shift Media’s other products include Wiredrive for customized, branded pitch reels and Screeners.com for securely screening pre-release content. The company has been a supplier to the advertising and entertainment industry for more than two decades. In addition, 75% of Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards winners used Shift Media products.

What has been announced?

Following the merger, EditShare and Shift Media will operate as EditShare. This means that MediaSilo, Wiredrive and Screeners.com will now come under the EditShare brand. Ramu Potarazu, Shift Media’s CEO, will lead the new company while EditShare CEO Conrad Clemson will leave the business. Potarazu said, “EditShare and Shift Media are highly complementary businesses with market-leading products and services and a shared commitment to putting the power of video production in the hands of creators. As a combined company, we will create a one-stop shop with a more comprehensive range of products and a global network of channel partners, enabling us to better meet our customer needs around the world.”

What we think

Previously, EditShare was more focused on the creative stage of media production. Meanwhile, Shift Media provided solutions for reviewing and sharing your work. Following the merger, the new combined company can deliver a full range of end-to-end services for collaborative working. The new company will also have a comprehensive range of cloud-based solutions.
